Fire in Moss Lane, Styal

On the evening of Saturday 11th May  2013 a number of fire appliances attended a fire at a Farm on Moss Lane, Styal,Cheshire.

Due to the close proximity of a number of cylinders and the risk of them eploding, nearby houses were evacuated. Moss Lane was closed and a cordon established.

A Major Incident was declared and a multi-agency response was put into place. The displaced residents were offered temporary accomodation until they were able to return home.

One lady was injured in the blaze and attended hospital.

How we Prepare

Part of our preparation includes regular training exercises where we bring together all of the agencies in a staged situation. This lets us practise co-ordinating our response so that we can act quickly and effectively should a real emergency occur.

Respect the elements

As we have seen over the past few months the British weather is unpredictable. Bad weather can strike suddenly and, although
the Met Office is predicting this winter to be milder than last year, it is still sensible to be prepared
