Potential impact on telephone service in the Sankey Area of Warrington.
On 27th November 2009 reports were received of persons stealing copper wiring which formed part of BT telephone cabling system. Two men were arrested as a result of the calls received.
The emergency services, local authority and other partner
agencies declared a serious incident due to the number of homes and
people affected. A contingency plan was actioned to identify
vulnerable people who might need additional support due to
carelines and welfare services being impacted. This resulted in
targeted support where it was required.
